2020

I wonder if you can remember what your dreams were at the start of the last decade? I can't. But I can remember what I wrote in my Little Mermaid diary on the 31st of December 1999 when we all thought the world was going to end at midnight at the turn of the century. I wrote about how much I love my family and my wishes were for them to have good health and happiness. (I also remember the Mavericks playing on tv at the turn of midnight, telling us to just dance the night away :) ). Not much has changed for my wishes but 2020 is as good a time as any to set yourself some goals.

I'm looking forward to a year of change, which has already been kick started by beginning the year in my lovely new home which I feel incredibly grateful for. I'd like to change my diet and exercise outlooks and hopefully, I can change from student to MSc if I finally complete my masters.

Something else I'd like to change, is being kinder to myself if I slip during the pursuit of my goals. I used to get cross at myself and give up easily but I've realised; if I encourage myself the way I would encourage a child in my class or a friend, some lovely things might just happen.

If you slip - it's ok. Simply, begin again. Not the next Monday or when the treat box is empty :) Then and there, reflect on the great progress you have made with whatever it is, give gratitude and keep going.

Happy New Year. Be kind to yourself as well as to others.
